TGIS … Thank God it’s Sunny!!!

DH and I have been empty-nesters all week, as the twins are at camp.  So – I’ve spent the week in the pool (during the day – in the sunshine).  And played a bit in the studio in the evenings.  Here’s my coffin load, ready for slumping – and a [taboo] photo post-slumping (at 500 …

Doh!

Must have been tired yesterday when I was playing in the studio … I pulled my latest Welcome Yoda sign out and was initially pleased!  Here are both irid signs: And then, as I was trying to catch the irid-flash on the (more square) Yoda, I finally realized why I couldn’t see it … It’s …

Spinning my wheels …

but – still being productive.  After seven phone calls, I have the next doctor’s appointment set, this time with an academic dermatologist (yeah, I didn’t realize there are different types either) … I see him in 6 weeks.  Lordy, here’s hoping everything stays stable and the fever stays at bay.  As a healthcare worker – …

Pushing forward …

Mixed results in the studio today, but overall – I’m happy.  My irid platters are cooling in the kiln as I type … but that didn’t stop me from catching a quick peak/picture: HaHa!!!  Much better … not perfect, but I like them!  And, I have a mini tray fire-polishing in the little kiln.  We’ll …

Perspective …

WWU:  Point taken, Oh-Great-One!  I live and work in a podunk, rural community.  I take that for granted.  The fact that, as an ER nurse in my ‘lil county – we don’t often see or care for ‘SICK’ kids.  The ones that your heart breaks for … because they’re fighting metastatic cancer.  It’s such a …

Update and good news …

My tiles have moved along … they’re in the kiln for the third (??? final) firing.  I learned a lot, and I have [A LOT] more learning to do … but I think I like them.  A family emergency is ending well … the phone lines were fired up for a bit yesterday, when my …

That’s better!

Feelin’ a bit more like me, and the Motrin is actually helping today … so I had a great day in the studio!  I’ve been spending a lot of time learning Vitri-Fusaille (Peter McGrain) along with all other painting on stained glass techniques (Thank you, Williams and Byrne!).  Look what I have to show off …

A (quietly) productive week …

And ending on a great note:  I’m meeting with ‘The Girls’ again – my childhood friends.  We’ve had some (slightly) impressive changes since we last got together … [Good Lord – we ARE some kind of version of “The Big Chill”] … so, we have lots to share.  I’m so looking forward to seeing them …

Studio Time, Food and Family …

Had a bit more studio time … so I learned a bit about David Alcala’s glass tapestry (amazing!), and played with flexi-glass … had some troubles getting started (it’s NOT supposed to roll and wrinkle like that), but had more success with fine frit and mica:     And here’s my “object d’art” … basically …

Play Day in the Studio

A long, stressful day … but a good day.  Started early this morning as we flew pups off to their new homes.  Got home just in time to watch their flights progress across the country … New extended family in NJ, MD, FL and MN.  All the babies did well, and I’m happy and sad …
