Still Learning – While keeping myself ready …

Again, another week with a huge blow.  It’s not fully understand yet – and I’m giving myself some time … But. it will be okay. I am creating – in the kitchen and with my yarn … Look at this bean soup, along with a nice ham/cheese/egg casserole to keep someone busy …      LOVE …

Over watch – and …

Another catch-up post.  Last I wrote, I was experiencing an internal GI over-haul.  Five days of Jello, water and yogurt later – my gastrointestinal system and I were friends again.  Fearing I was contagious at the time, I stayed in the studio, away from DH and the pups.  Once normal, I hit our downstairs kitchen …

I’m no Hallmark, but …

I played with background techniques this week.  I started with alcohol inks  … Some are gorgeous, some so-so, and some will just have to grow on me … I used different background medias (Yupo, Futura, and even acetate).  It’s all learning … (I’m almost  ‘fluent’ in watercolor paper manufacturers, too!)       And, I’m discovering …

Card Making Crazy continues …

I spent time this week watching Youtube and scoping blogs for stamping, card making and paper-crafting ideas.  Ah, the internet – such a great way to occupy an insomniac’s mind! I’m no expert – yet, but I have a decent handle on the stamping, so I made a sheet of focals to color.  Now, this …

Murrini Madness … and more glass!

I’m working on more coe96 cane colors.  We had a pull tonight, and here is our ‘Pumpkin’ murrine: I’ve cut glass for SEVERAL more pulls (… I was in a cutting mood!) … I have a few of the stacks prepped.  I hope to keep the vit kiln busy this week:     We also have …

Cruisin’ Through Summer …

I’m still playing with my reverse enameling and stamps.  A few more to finish and I will have a major coffin load of spoon rests & dishes.  Tonight’s progress:    I was painting while heating up our vit kiln for this brown/tan pull.  Oops!  Having said that … SOMEONE (DH) was right there with the …

Still Learning …

We had another vitrigraph pull this week … We’ve got a nice variety of cane going – while we continue to learn what to do and what not to do!  Now, if SOMEONE would just finish making my cane-chopper! I played with a few recipes, too.  We made tahini – which gives our 25+ year …

Studio update 2/24

We had our fourth vit pull last week.  I’m gaining some skills with ‘the stack’ and manipulating the temperatures … I’m hoping to try for some black/white/gray murrine next, maybe later today. We are building a decent collection of cane ‘flower bouquets’ … More than I will ever need for my original interest/intent; probably enough for …

Patiently learning …

DH made the vit pot for me, so we can use square glass in it, instead of cutting circles for clay pots.  Much easier to prep and load, but the stainless steel pot has it’s own learning curve.  Add to it, I still have a bunch to learn regarding my color choices for a vitrigraph …

We Did It!!!

We set our (4th) kiln up and had our first vitrigraph cane pull!  Yahoo!!! [So, yeah … it’s THAT kiln, the vitrigraph kiln … Which will forever be called ‘She Who Causes Broken Wing’ … I ❤ her!] We still have a lot of fine tuning to do – but – I’m happy!  Definitely having …
